Side-effects

Refer to the patient information leaflet regarding possible side effects. The following possible interactions and precautions should be considered:

• Ginkgo can interfere with the seizure threshold in people with epilepsy.

• Diabetics should be aware that Ginkgo may reduce their insulin requirements. Adjustments may be needed. Regular glucose level checks may be required initially. The benefits of improved vascular circulation for diabetics are enormous.

• Ginkgo has an inhibitory effect on blood platelet aggregation which means that it effectively reduces the tendency of blood components to stick together. It is the tendency of dangerous clots to form in the veins and arteries. The ability to inhibit blood clotting implies that Ginkgo may increase the effects of anticoagulant drugs such as Heparin, Warfarin, and Aspirin. Regular testing of your prothrombin index is important when taking Warfarin to be able to make any needed adjustments to Warfarin therapy.

• Patients with angina or rhythm disturbances should take note that Hawthorn may influence heart rhythm.

• Saw palmetto in high doses may reduce Sodium and Potassium levels. However, a small dose of Vascamen should not cause such depletion.
   

Dosage

Two tablets in the morning and one at night. Unlike other brands, Vascamen is a supplement to be taken daily and not prior to having intercourse. Continuous use of Vascamen is important in order to maintain quality of life in men. You should feel a difference within 2 to 4 weeks of using Vascamen daily at the prescribed dosage of three tablets per day.
